Dodge Brand vehicles are bred for performance, and the Dodge Charger carries on that lineage. From heart-pounding power to unexpected efficiency, America’s only four-door muscle car is one unforgettable ride.
The Dodge Charger Daytona returns for 2017. Last seen in the 2013 model year, the car takes its inspiration from the big-winged Charger Daytona coupe that Dodge built in 1969 for NASCAR racing. Starting at $41,235, the Charger Daytona wears front- and rear-end bodywork that mimics its SRT and R/T Scat Pack brethren; however, the Daytona plows its own styling path by including model-specific matte-black design details including a rear spoiler, roof, a “Hemi” graphic on the center-mounted hood-scoop bulge, and “Daytona” graphics on the rear quarter-panels. Like the Challenger T/A, the Daytona also will be available in a handful of retro paint hues, including Green Go and Yellow Jacket. Two Daytona models will be available: the Daytona and the Daytona 392. Dodge’s 5.7-liter V-8 powers the former, while the brand’s 6.4-liter V-8 motivates the latter. The two engines benefit from an intake capped with a Mopar conical air filter, as well as a burly exhaust system. Both are the same V-8s you’ll find in their respective non-Daytona counterparts, which make 370 and 485 horsepower in the 2016 models.

2018 Ford Mustang GT-

It’s still a Mustang. With the exception of the bastardized Pinto that became the Mustang II, Ford’s pony car hasn’t strayed from the original blend of herbs and spices that made it a hit in 1965. Now we’re getting into the meat of the 21st century and the 2018 Ford Mustang continues to offer a V-8, rear-wheel drive, two doors, and a manual transmission. It still looks the business too, even though the 2018 may look a little beady eyed.
The EcoBoost 2.3-litre lump retains the same max power output of 233kW but gets another 41Nm of torque. This has been wrought from the engine using an overboost code refined from the Focus RS.

The really big news, though, is in the gearboxes. Both the V8 and the turbo-four can now be specced with a 10-speed auto ’box – a relative of the 10-speeder fitted in the all-conquering F-150 Raptor. This allows both engines, but especially the smaller unit, to remain smack in the middle of peak performance. There is also a six-speed manual option on both cars that’s been reworked to handle the extra torque.

On the V8 cars, it now includes a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel. Both help smooth the clutch action. Ford looked at, but resisted, the idea to add auto rev-matching to the manual. It isn’t ruling it out for later models.
